Cusco
|
Here is a cathedral on the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Cusco is
located at an altitude of 11,000 feet in a beautiful valley surrounded by
mountains. It was the former capital of the Inca Empire and was called "The
belly-button of the universe". The central square, the Plaza de Armas, is
a lively area with vendors, historic churches and many restaurants offering
local dishes. Night life is active with clubs and bars. The city is considered
a living historical monument, as a short stroll down many streets will reveal
original Inca walls. The dry season in Peru is May to October, and brief
daily showers occur November through April. Nights can be cold, but the daytime
year round temperature rarely varies from the upper 60's. |
