"Call it 'Peace' or call it 'Treason,'
Call it 'Love' or call it 'Reason,'
But I ain't marchin' any more."
- Phil Ochs
Welcome to Don Berryman's human rights and progressive politics link page.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired
signifies in
the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those
who are
cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money
alone. It is
spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the
hopes of its
children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the
clouds of
war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron."
-- Dwight D. Eisenhower

Universal Declaration Of Human Rights:
the "CONSTITUTION OF THE WORLD".
The international community declared over 40 years
ago-- for the first time in history-- that every human
being has inalienable rights. The Universal Declaration
of Human Rights committed governments to respect these
rights in their own countries and to promote them throughout
the world.
Today, in public, the governments of over 150 countries
pledge to uphold the Universal Declaration. But in practice,
many governments deny their citizens these fundamental rights.
Read it and weep.
